Integrating Technology

The fast paced nature of the educational landscape means that teachers need to stay on top of new technology. Not only does this ensure better engagement with students, it ensures that educators are aware of pitfalls, and can teach students how to use their resources wisely.

There is nothing particularly wrong with using AI, or incorporating more online resources into a lesson. However, the responsibility of teaching appropriate use and instilling self-regulation in students is an ongoing process that I’m working towards.

Indigenous Content

Incorporating indigenous content is at the forefront of many educators’ minds. For me, I believe that indigenous content goes beyond mentioning the existence of their works or thoughts. I am always working with indigenous creators, and collaborating with other educators, to find innovative ways to integrate indigenous knowledge and the Ontario curriculum.

I want to ensure that my students gain insight into what truth and reconciliation really means, and how we can support indigenous peoples and respectfully engage with their culture in our everyday lives.
